Captioned Movie Schedule

St. Louis Captioned Media

Note from Robert Foster:

It has come to my attention, that we have many new readers for this letter and it might be helpful to review how the captions are delivered by our theaters.  We have not done this for a while.  There are two types of captioning available to us.  First is the captioning right on the screen.  You will find that at the Regal's St. Louis Mills Theater.  Secondly, is the Rear Wall Captioning.  That's where you request a "Reflector" and mount it in you cup holder at your seat and read the captions that are in reverse on the back wall.  This type of captioning is available at all three AMC Theaters and allows the theater to have more showings everyday.

What is the difference between Closed Captioned and Open Caption in films?

Closed captioning is an added value to a film and is optional to be seen. These films cost more and allow the theatre to choose to show the captions or not.

Open captioning is a integral part of the film and can't be "closed off" from view. These are less expensive and will likely become more and more common as time goes on. They usually are created in such a way that they do not interfere with the film visuals and are a separate bar below the film.
